On the 7th of October the International forum of theatre art «ТЕАRТ» started in Minsk within the week of Theatre with «Belgazprombank».
Before the performance a solemn ceremony of forum’s opening took place. The Minister of Culture of Belarus Pavel Latushko and the president of joint belarusian-russian OJSC «Belgazprombank» Viktor Babariko addressed to the audience with a welcoming speech. In his speech Viktor Babariko said:
«This year the Theatre Week with «Belgazprombank» has a new format. For a month, Visual and Performing Arts Centre created with our participation is going to presenting masterpieces of world theatre united not just thematically («Watching Shakespeare, Chekhov...», etc.) but by virtue of the gift of innovation and a special view of seemingly usual things. The organizers of this major event offer to the attention of the audience performances from all over the world. The theatrical kaleidoscope, which brightly shows various tendencies in the stage art of numerous countries, is becoming virtually all-embracing.
We find it important that the Belarusian audience be in harmony with that in Europe and elsewhere in the world, that the festival performances attract the public, and going to the theatre be fashionable. Theatre is the closest of all the arts to people as the capacity to think and empathize is a natural and essential need of human mind and soul. We want to expand the auditorium for the middle class to the maximum because its formation and evolution should be determined not only in economic terms but also by a combination of spiritual and intellectual qualities and characteristics. And the performances presented at the Festival work towards these goals.
The famous Chinese philosopher Confucius once remarked that «in a wrongly governed state it is a disgrace to be rich; in a rightly governed state it is a disgrace to be poor». I would put this statement as follows: «in a wrongly governed state it is a disgrace to be innovative and independent; in a rightly governed state it is a disgrace to be sluggish and dependent». Our attempt to present to the public new developments in theatre art is based on a simple conviction: any creative endeavour has a right to existence. But it is crucial that the viewers form their own opinion based on personal perception.
I am convinced that theatre art shortens the distance between thoughts and emotions. The main thing is that the emotions should be accompanied by a staggering artistic effect. I hope that the Festival will give the public this opportunity. It is most important for all of us to see once again that the present-day world is extremely wide and diverse, and that we are part of this world.
At the opening ceremony the Minister of Culture of Belarus Pavel Latushko greatly appreciated the merits of Belgazprombank’s organization of theatre movement in our country and presented
a memorable souvenir to Viktor Babariko.
The Argentine’s staging based on the ageless theatre classic Chekhov’s «Uncle Vanya» opened the «ТЕАRТ». The doors of the National
Palace of trade’s union Culture were opened to all connoisseurs offine, who came on the first night of russian classics in «latinoamerican» interpretation of the
performance «Uncle Vanya. Tracing for a woman, who kills herself», presented by a theatre company of Daniel Veroneze provokeddivergent opinions, but in any case, did not leave the
audience indifferent. As noted by critics, «thisstaging gushes the game. The amazing energyof the actors involves the spectators in a marvelous journey into the artistic world of
theatre». By the way, the geography of theatre forum (which runs until the 26th of October) is wide as never before: the honored groups from Russia (St. Petersburg), Lithuania,
Latvia, Korea, France and Poland will be the guests of Belarusian capital».
