How “TEART” is going to change theatre landscape of Belarus this year

IV International Theatre Forum TEART will take place in Minsk from September 27 to October 22, 2014. The audience will see 21 performancesin two programmes – international and additional off-programme “Belarus Open. Organisers of the forum are ART Corporation Visual and Performing Arts Centre and Belgazprombank OJSC, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.General partner is Gazprom Transgaz Belarus OJSC.

How “TEART” is going to change theatre landscape of Belarus this year

From the first year of its existence forum TEART hasbeen playing a special part in Belarus theatre art. it opens the theatre of the future for the Belarusians. Each year ART Corporation in association with Belgazprombank OJSC present for Minsk audience the best bits of modern world theatre art, performances that will henceforth determine the development of Belarusian theatre. These productions heat imagination, excite surprise, arouse doubts, and even resentment. Thanks to the forum the Belarusian audience has a rear opportunity to experience unique performances, form opinion about them, and find something interesting and important in them.

Forum TEART discovers new names for Belarusian theater art. This year the programme “Belarus Open is going to present 12 alternative Belarusian productions. The programme will be opened by performances of the Centre of Experimental Directing “Alias Gospodin on the play by Philipp Löhle, and “Shabany on the novel by Algerd Bakharevich. The audience will see as well the performance “Moody hockey-player on the play byPavel Pryazhko (Visual and Performing Arts Centre), “What if there is no tomorrow by Dmitry Bogoslavky (The Republican Theatre of Belarusian Drama), dramatised readings of the plays “It’s all because of her by Andrey Ivanov and “The Carriage byVictor Krasovsky (in cooperation with Irina Garets) (The Centre of Belarusian Drama). “The Che Theatre will present theatrical version of the mystical poem “Dziady by Adam Mitskevich.

I addition, “Belarusian block includes plastique art performances of dance theatres “Karakuli and “SKVO’s Dance Company. Unique project “Streetwalker will take place in the court of The Vankoviches’ House – within sight of the audience and with its direct involvement Minsk will be filled with real contemporary art works.

“within the frame of the festival TEART we have been trying the fourth year already to show the whole variety of the contemporary theatre art to the Belarusian audience. From year to year we invite to Minsk the best performancesawarded with theatre prizes and making part of prestigious international festival programmes. The modern theatre constantly changes, it doesn’t afraid of any experiments, it is complicated. And our mission is to lead the Belarusian audience through the labyrinths of these changes forming new consciousness and perception of modern art, said Angelika Krashevskaya, director of Visual and Performing Arts Centre.

International programme TEART-2014will be opened by the ballet “The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky from the repertoire of the legendary “Russian Seasons by Sergey Dyagilev in Andris Liepa’s production. The ballet will open on October 3 inThe National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus. In this very place Belgazprombank OJSC will also present the new gem of its corporate collection – sketch “Costume Design for the Firebird by Leon Bakst made for the original ballet production in 1922.

Further in international programme the audiencewill see performances of theatre collectives from 8 countries: Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Slovenia, Germany, and Denmark. By tradition this block will include the most talked-of and famous world productions with emphasis on experiment and innovation.

Among award-winning participants of this year are the winners of the title “The best Latvian performance of last years: provocative “Stavanger (Pulp People) of Liepaja Theatre bydirector Konstantin Bogomolov, and the masterpiece “Oblomov bydirectorAlvis Hermanis on classic novel by Ivan Goncharov (The New Riga Theatre). Unique representation of Chekhov “TheSeagull will be brought by Vilnius City Theatre (director– Oskaras Korunovas).

TEART will be closed inThe National Academic Janka Kupala Theatre by the first performance of “The Father by the play “The Quiet Rustle of Passing Steps by young Belarusian play writer Dmitry Boguslavsky, director – Ekaterina Averkova.

On December 16, 2014 Belgazprombank and Commerzbank AG signed the Basic Loan Agreement which gives Belgazprombank an access to long-term financing provided by the German bank under coverage of export credit agencies.

On December 19, 2014 Belgazprombank opened a correspondent account in Chinese yuans with Bank of China. Earlier, in September this year Belgazprombank opened correspondent accounts in Chinese yuans and US dollars in another Chinese bank, Agricultural Bank of China.

Belgazprombank was honored by Commerzbank AG with a Trade Award 2013 for high results in foreign trade financing achieved in cooperation with the German bank in 2013. This prize presented in Belarus for the first time also witnesses the recognition by the German bank of the high quality of trade finance services provided by Belgazprombank to its customers.

Belgazprombank received the Gold Award of the Banking Association for Central and Eastern Europe (BACEE) in the annual report competition.

On October 7, the Lithuanian Art Museum hosted the media preview and presentation of a documentary and educational television project “Belarus-Born Artists of the School of Paris. It was dedicated to the beginning of broadcasting on the Lithuanian television of the TV series of the same name consisting of 7 films.

On August 28, 2014 Belgazprombank and Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) signed the USD 10 million loan agreement with five years of maturity. This is the first project committed by EBD under its new Programme on development of agricultural sector adopted in 2013.

On April 18, within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Belarus, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Irina Bokova visited the National Art Museum of the Republic Belarus.
